Bruce Buckingham, MD, is a Professor of Pediatric Endocrinology at Stanford University and Packard Children’s Hospital. Dr. Buckingham received his MD from the University of California at San Diego, and his Pediatric Endocrinology training at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

Dr. Buckingham’s research interests have focused on continuous glucose monitoring in children and “closing-the-loop”. These efforts are being funded by the JDRF and NIH and are currently focused on preventing nocturnal hypoglycemia, rapidly restoring metabolic control at the onset of diabetes, and developing ambulatory treat-to-range closed loop control.

Hee Yun Lee is a Professor and Director of Research at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, in USA. Her major research areas include cancer health disparity and health literacy among immigrant and refugee populations. She is currently conducting several RCT trials to improve cancer screening behavior and health literacy funded by the National Cancer Institute, Susan Komen for the Cure Foundation, and Department of Defense. She has published more than 47 papers in reputed medical/public health journals and has been serving as an editorial board member and currently serving as an Associate Editor for a high impact journal.

Christopher Snyder is the Director of Pediatric Cardiology at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. His interests include general pediatric cardiology and Adult with Congenital Heart disease as well as a sub-specialty in pediatric and adult congenital electrophysiology on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

She has been a Professor at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, Canada, since 1990. Dr. P. Syamasundar Rao is Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine and Emeritus Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Texas-Houston Medical School and Professor of Pediatrics at the University Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. Dr. Rao received his medical degree from Andhra Medical College/University, Visakhapatnam, India where he subsequently served internship and began pediatric training. Following completion of pediatric training in USA, he received training in Pediatric Cardiology at Stanford University, Case-Western Reserve University and University of California at Los Angeles. After training he joined the faculty at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Georgia, USA, then rose to the rank of Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Director of Pediatric Cardiology. His subsequent positions were Consultant Pediatric Cardiologist and Chairman, Department of Pediatrics, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Professor and Director of Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, Wisconsin and Professor and Director, Division of Pediatric Cardiology, Saint Louis University School of Medicine/Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Rao authored 360 papers, ten monographs/books and 60 book chapters. He had 230 abstract presentations at various national and international scientific societies and his invited presentations were 150. He lectured and made catheter intervention demonstrations in a number of countries including India, USA, Australia, Finland, Sweden, Germany, New Zealand, Brazil and Japan. Dr. Rao’s honors include Award for Outstanding Contribution to Pediatric Cardiology, presented by Telugu Association of North America, John Linds Lecture at Swedish Pediatric Association, Gothenburg, Sweden, Meritorious Service Award from Wisconsin Nicaragua Partners of the Americas, Outstanding Service Award from Healing the Children of Wisconsin, Outstanding Scientist Award from American Association of Cardiologists of Indian Origin and Kreidberg’s Lecture at Tufts University/New England Medical Center, Boston, MA.. He is a pioneer in interventional pediatric cardiology and made many contributions in catheterization and angiography in 1970s, balloon angioplasty/valvuloplasty in 1980s and transcatheter catheter closure of cardiac defects in 1990s, developed new pediatric cardiology/pediatric cardiovascular surgery program in 2000s and developing educational programs for physicians in 2010s.

Dr. Rao’s special interests are physiologically advantageous ventricular septal defects, tricuspid atresia and transcatheter management of heart defects in children.

Dr. Nancy Searle received her doctorate in curriculum and instruction, science education, from the University of Houston and a bachelor’s degree in history from Armstrong State College (now Armstrong Atlantic State University) in Savannah, Ga. Dr. Searle is currently an associate professor at Baylor College of Medicine in the departments of pediatrics and internal medicine where she is director of the Academy of Distinguished Educators and director of faculty development and recognition.

Dr. Searle’s research interests include the impact of faculty development activities on the degree to which participants become educational change agents for their departments and/or their institution as a whole, and on the teaching, evaluation, educational research, and overall educational scholarship skills of faculty development participants.

Dr. Kendra Russell serves as Associate Professor and Director of the Macon Graduate Center at Georgia College. She completed her BSN and MSN in Nursing Administration at Georgia College and Doctorate in Nursing at Georgia State University, Atlanta, Ga. Dr. Russell’s clinical background is in neonatal intensive care and pediatrics. Dr. Russell’s research focus is in maternal/infant outcomes and she has published and presented her research at local, state, national, and international conferences. She has eight years of administrative experience serving as a RN-BSN program coordinator, department chair – undergraduate nursing, and assistant director of nursing.

Dr Hamish B Wallace is a consultant in Paediatric Oncology at the RHSC, Edinburgh since 1992. He became a Leukaemia Research Fund Research Fellow under the guidance of Professor Steve Shalet in Manchester in the late 1980s when he developed my research interest in the late endocrine effects of the treatment of childhood cancer and completed my MD thesis. His main research interest is in fertility outcome and fertility preservation for cancer patients. He is the Chair of the CCLG Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Working Group (since 2002) and President of the European Network for Paediatric Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (since 2007). Wallace is a co-author of over 130 peer-reviewed publications, and four books. Most recently he co-edited with Prof Dan Green a multi-author book on “Late effects of the treatment of Childhood Cancer” and with Prof Chris Kelnar a book on “Endocrine complications of the treatment of childhood cancer”. He is the the co- founder and organiser for ESLCCC, a biannual conference on the late effects of the treatment of childhood cancer. Dr Wallace was Lead Clinician for the Children’s and Young Peoples MCN for Cancer in Scotland “CATSCAN” from 2007 to 2010. He is currently the Registrar of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Luis Beato-Fernández (MD. PhD.) has completed his MD from University of Seville (Spain) and postdoctoral studies PhD from University of Cordoba School of Medicine. Hideya Kodama graduated from Akita university of Medicine in 1982, and promoted to a professor of the department of maternity child nursing at Akita university graduate school of medicine and faculty of medicine in 2000. Since them, he have studied about a human circadian rhyme, including a sleep-wake cycle, a melatonin rhythm, regulation of autonomic nervous system and a body thermal rhythm, with nurses who entered his postdoctoral course. Now, he manages several research projects of the doctoral course regarding this issue, and his research subjects include early infants, pregnant women, puerperal and adolescent girls.

Sheelagh Wickham qualified as a general nurse and midwife. After qualifying she worked in Intensive Care and Accident and Emergency Department. She moved from A&E to set up one of the first Diabetes Day Centres in Ireland where she worked for a number of years before moving to research in diabetes care. In the mid-nineties she developed the first accredited course in Specialist Nursing, (Diabetes) in Ireland in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. During this time she achieved an honours master from TrinityCollege and registered as nurse tutor. She completed the fellowship in the Faculty in Nursing in RCSI in 2000 and her Doctorate in the Science of Nursing from the University of Wales, Swansea. She continues to teach in the School of Nursing in Dublin City University where she is Associate Dean of Teaching and Learning.

Andrzej Nowicki was born in Warsaw, Poland. He graduated from Military Medical Academy in Lodz in 1975 and he got a degree as a medical doctor (MD) in Institute of Oncology in Warsaw in 1987 and postdoctoral degree in 1998. He is a winner of two individual scientific prices awarded by Bydgoszcz Oncological Foundation. In 1995 he was in University Hospital in Calgary as a visiting professor. At present he is an assistant professor in Collegium Medicum of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun and director of the Oncological Nursing Unit as well as academic teacher in the Department of Nursing. He is an author of above 107 articles published in medical magazines and he was an author of handbook under title ‘Oncological Nursing’.

Andrzej Nowicki main scientific interests are: Quality of life of oncological patients, Preventive screening systems for early detection of breast and colorectal cancers, Nutrition state and fatigue syndrome in oncological patients as well as Quality of life during final stage of neoplastic diseases.

Dr van den Hoff obtained his PhD in 1994 from the University of Amsterdam:“Isolation and characterization of the rat carbamoylphosphate synthetase I gene”. After moving to the field of heart development with Prof Moorman, he established his own group focusing on heart muscle cell formation and epicardial development after the formation of the linear heart tube. As a visiting scientist he has developed a tight collaboration with the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston (US). Currently, he is vice-chair of the department of Anatomy, Embryology & Physiology and AMC Principle Investigator and has published in excess of 86 papers (H-index 29) in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Salah T. Al Awaidy is a Communicable Diseases Adviser in Health Affairs, Ministry of Health, Muscat, Oman. He is a medical doctor and holds a Master’s in Epidemiology. In 1995, she established the Pediatrics Department of the Faculty of Medicine of Kocaeli University and Neonatology Department in 2000. Between the years 1995 and 2010, she worked as the head of Pediatrics Department of the Faculty of Medicine of Kocaeli University. She still works as the head of Neonatology Department of the School of Medicine of Kocaeli University . She is a member of ESPR, National Pediatrics Foundation of Turkey, Turkish Neonatology Foundation, Mother and Baby Health Foundation in Turkey.
